Требования к рукописям статей,
поступающим в журнал «Обсерватория культуры»
• Редакция принимает ранее не опубликованные статьи.
• При решении о публикации принимаются во внимание актуальность темы, четкая
постановка исследуемой проблемы и логика ее решения. В статье должны быть
представлены научные или прикладные результаты исследования, сделаны
соответствующие выводы.
• Редакция сообщает автору о решении редколлегии по поводу публикации
в течение 2-х месяцев со дня регистрации рукописи в редакции.
• Объем рукописей не должен превышать 35—40 тыс. знаков. Превышение объема
может служить основанием для отказа в публикации.
• Правила оформления статьи:
рукописи принимаются по электронной почте в виде текстового файла в формате
Word. Форматирование не допускается;
оформление сносок и примечаний в пределах статьи должно быть единообразным.
Желательна сплошная нумерация сносок.
• Статья завершается списком литературы, составленным в порядке упоминания
в тексте статьи. Ссылки на литературу в тексте даются в квадратных скобках,
в которых помещается порядковый номер источника и номера страниц.
• К рукописям прилагаются:
резюме статьи объемом не более 400 знаков и список ключевых слов (не менее 8)
на английском и русском языках; классификационные индексы ББК и УДК;
сведения об авторе: фамилия, имя, отчество полностью; ученые степени
и звания; должность и место работы.
• Плата за публикацию статей не взимается.

SUMMARIES
Vector of Cultural Evolution (by Andrew Flier) defines the cultural evolution as a development from the necessity to
freedom, from a limited number of opportunities to expanding of their number, from the set of local constraints (“originality”)
to the global plurality, etc. Therefore, this article discusses specific phasic features, manifested in the way of
historical development of culture.

The Modern History: an Oxymoron or a Scientific Discipline? (Part One) (by Grigory Bibikov) considers the basic approaches
developed by modern Western historiography with regard to the possibility of knowledge and the scientific
study of the recent past. The article concerns such issues as the chronology of modern history, the ability to write stories
without archival materials in a substantial increase in the source base, and the politicization and the subjectivity as an
obstacle to scientific analysis, interdisciplinary aspect of the study of modern history.

Specificity of the Recursive Principle in Social Sciences and Humanities (on the Example of Language and Music)
(by Marina Zaichenko) considers the specific features of the recursive principle and its manifestation in the culture.
Recursiveness in its general form is found in fractal geometry. Currently, however, there appeared an opportunity to put
a recursive principle in the basis for new ideas in the field of humanities. Recursive function highlights such integrity,
completeness of which leads to the existence of a lot in common. More than that, the recursive movement becomes
constructive both for understanding of linguistic processes, as well as in a musical composition. Thanks to the recursive
function there is being born the represented to the subject the unity of its diverse definitions, and all relationships take
on their inherent meaning.

Struggle between New Ideas and the Old Paradigm during the Periods of Transition in Music History (by Saida Iskhakova) is
devoted to the problems, concerned with the nature of historical process of development of musical art. The author follows the
evolution of the European musical thinking of the past ten centuries and focuses on the so-called «epochs of transition».

Doll as a Fetish (by Nadejda Romanova) investigates the essence of symbolic - aesthetic transformation of a doll in the
space of archaic culture. The doll is considered as a fetish that is as specific symbolical and sacral form of meditation of
the subject-object relations, caused by principles and specificity of archaic thinking. Stages of creation of a doll-fetish
are analyzed: half-finished product (sculpture) — symbol (talisman, amulet) — fetish.

At the Cross-Roads: Search for an Effective Organizational Model of the Theatre in the Context of International
Experience (by Galina Onufrienko) presents two basic theatre organizational models: Continental (French), based on
a strong state paternalism, and the Anglo-Saxon, where the theatre — the subject of free-market game, selling goods
under the name of «pleasure», and, like other actors, forced to fight for survival. Some national modifications of the
basic models are also considered.

Methodological Approaches to the Study of Mass Success of Dramatic Spectacles (by Alexandr Ushkarev) considers
methodological approaches to the social dimensions of mass success of drama productions both as a scientific problem
and as well as an urgent practical problem of overcoming the uncertainty of the results of creative activity, understanding
the patterns of audience perception, and hence the predictability of the market prospects of artistic production.
The opportunities and limits of application of sociological and empirical methods in the study of human relationships
with the arts are also assessed.

Space and language of Mikhail Ancharov’s TV series “Day by day” (by Oleg Moiseev) belongs to the cycle of articles
devoted to works of Michail Ancharov and to his role in soviet cultural context in 1960-s — 1980-s. It covers the specifics
of the first soviet TV series «Day by day» from the standpoints: 1) of space structure in the series and relationship system
in this space; 2) of language specifics in the series, that is characteristic for the works of Ancharov in principle.

Inheritance of Cultural Values in Musical Axiocodes (by Larisa Romanova) deals with the symphonic orchestra as the
cultural form and as the value of the musical culture. The axiocodes in its «text» are being considered as «prints» of
other values of the music culture — the chorus, the opera, and the ensemble. The author creates the value-hierarchical
model as a result of the analysis.

New Pages of Vasily Titov’s Creative Work: “Rekvirial’naja” Service of God (liturgy) (by Natalia Plotnikova) is devoted
to «Rekvirial’naja» Sluzhba Bozhija — one of the twelve liturgies written by an outstanding Russian composer,
the master of partes style Vasily Titov. The author examines some of the archive manuscripts. Special attention is paid
to the thematic originality of the liturgy, deep relationship between the choral texture and polyphonic techniques with
a funeral Service content.

«House of Hesiod»: Housing and Clothing of the Ancient Greek Farmer of the VIII century BC (by Andrey Mukhin) is
devoted to rural architecture and winter suits of a Greek farmer. Text of the Hesiod’s poem “Works and Days” served as
study material. Basing on information obtained from this literary work, as well as the climatic features of Boeotia, the
author of the article carried graphic reconstruction of rural house and clothing of the ancient Boeotians.

Orthodoxy of the Heart: after Reading the Book by Hieromonk Damascene about Seraphim Rose (by Natalia Bogatyreva)
is devoted to the life and works of Seraphim Rose — well-known Orthodox American missionary and ascetic of
the mid-twentieth century, novelist, essayist, publisher, teacher. After leaving the scientific and teaching career, Father
Serafim was tonsured and took the priesthood. Together with the Russian emigre Father Herman (Podmoshensky), he
founded the St. Herman's Brotherhood in the mountains of Northern California. Thanks to Father Seraphim, thousands
of people in different countries have come to Orthodoxy. Hieromonk Damascene (Christensen), author of «Father Seraphim
(Rose). Life and Works», created a deeply humane image of America’s educator and showed the true extent of his
missionary work. Some impressions of the book are offered to our readers in this sketch.

“Restoration of Monuments to the Past”: on the Historical Semantics of the Concept and Social Practices of Its
Using (by Vladimir Zverev) examines the problems of genesis of concept “restoration of monuments to the past” and
ways of its use in various historical and cultural contexts of the XIX — XX centuries. The debate on this topic helps in
clarifying of the content of the basic concept “scientific restoration” and his social-historical functions.

Cultural Studies as General Educational Discipline: Turn to Everyday Life (by Galina Brandt) describes the experience
of reading a general education course “Сulturology” in the paradigm of «competence-oriented approach».

Specifics of Postmodernism Manifestations in Russia (by Igor Kosinov) examines national specifics of Russian
postmodernism which is directly connected with the country’s Soviet past. According to the author, Soviet society in
considerable degree proved to be isolated from the development of foreign science and artistic thoughts. Close connection
with political thoughts, that is not typical in foreign post-modernism, and strongly pronounced literature-centrism
are characteristic features of Russian postmodernism.

Place and Role of Advertising in Socio-Cultural Space of the City (by Viktoria Alekseeva) considers City as an arena
of public relations reflecting the social structure of the society. It is complicated form in which the different sides of
human’s life are refracted. Between different translators of values, priorities and norms and ideals are forming human
today and the advertising is appeared more active and even aggressively. Advertising tries to undertake the role of
coordinator of human’s life forming basic understandings and models of behaviour and being one of the important
components of town’s life and texts and it is exerted influence on forming socio-cultural space of city.

Food as a Stable Component of Material Culture (Based on a Poll of the “Moscow Buryats”) (by Monica Banaeva) is
devoted to food — the most stable element of material culture, which is the easiest to be reproduced in a multicultural
environment and that is why the majority of migrants becomes a symbol of ethnicity. The article is prepared on the
basis of a sociological survey of the “Moscow Buryats”.

A Review of the Scientific Publication «The Problems of Museology» (by Vladimir Astafyev, Lidia Sychenkova) reviews
some publications from «The Problems of Museology».
On the History of Two Ex-Libris by K.A. Somov and A.N. Benoit (by Nadejda Morozova) is devoted to book-plates by
K.A. Somov and A.N. Benoit — Russian Art Nouveau style models in Ex-libris. Some facts from the life of painters that
influenced the artistic image of the book-plates are thoroughly considered. The basis for the article was the collection
and archives of the Moscow collector and art critic P.D. Ettinger from the Foundation Division of graphics of the
Pushkin Art Museum.

Culture of Drinking in Moscow Russia on Notions of European Travelers (by Lilia Shcherbakova) analyzes some of the
writings of foreigners about Russia of XV-XVII centuries in which there are descriptions of the culture of alcohol consumption
by Russians. The author tries to expose distortions and undertakes attempts to dissociate a true from fiction
and overstatements. The author also makes a comparison with consumable drinks by Europeans in a probed period.

Principle of Social Existence: Cultural Studies Discourse. Law and Reason (by Alexis Shubakov) proceeds with
analyzing of the Social from the fact that the homogeneity of the human perception of the world, no matter how different
social actors are, guarantees the human mind only. With it, a person can recognize another of the same person.
The human mind performs its functions, if the individual mind can assign a social, cultural, and civilizational content.
Thanks to this the power of the human unity and pathways of the human community is detected.

Metaphor of the City in the Anthropology of Eastern Fathers of the Church (by Andrew Shustrov) considers presented
in the works of the Eastern Fathers of the Church interpretation of the theme of the City based on the orthodox doctrine
of a man. In philosophical knowledge the problem of the human personality is one of the most fundamental problems.
The very term “personality” or “hypostasis” appeared in the philosophical language of the Christian culture. Ecclesiastical
writers often use the notion “mind” to designate the spirit in a human being. According to the eastern Christian
doctrine a mystical spiritual nucleus of a human can not be expressed up to the end. External designation requires the
language of symbols. For the latter the Holy Fathers of the Eastern Church often used the realities of the urban life
being the closest and most understandable to the audience.
