АннотацияI intend to examine the role of the Brazilian National Council of Justice, the top administrative body of Brazil’s Judiciary Branch in supporting jurisdictional activity involving claims for social rights and in managing the environmental policy of the Judiciary Branch. As regards support for trials of disputes involving social rights, this analysis is based on the need to restructure the Brazilian Judiciary Branch, still out of sync with current social demands. In turn, the activities of the National Council related to environmental issues are examined by taking into account the need for a balance between environmental protection and social and economic needs, in addition to the need for Judiciary bodies to act conjointly in structural terms and for the Judiciary Branch to act in a coordinated manner with the other branches of government and with non-state entities.
