Kolodkin, renowned international lawyer and Judge of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, is made up of a collection of articles on the international law of the sea written by leading Russian and foreign experts in this field. The wide-ranging topics of the articles deal with, inter alia, the history of the Russian doctrine of the law of the sea; the contribution of the International Court of Justice to the development of the law of the sea; the legal status and regime of maritime spaces; jurisdiction and activities of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea; legal aspects of the fight against piracy and illegal fishing; underwater cultural heritage; and implementation of the obligations of the Russian Federation under the treaties adopted under the auspices of the International Maritime Organization. The publication is intended for a readership interested in international law and, in particular, in the international law of the sea.
