Denying indexation to working pensioners is discriminatory and violates the principles enshrined in the Constitution, according to the unions. MANAGERIAL SOLUTIONS Current Approaches to Healthcare Quality Assurance On 2 November 2022, the Pirogov National Medical and Surgical Centre hosted the All-Russian conference «The Role of Nurses in Improving Healthcare Quality and Safety.» Key Issues in Nursing Care Administration The Russian Ministry of Health Commission for Nursing Care Administration met in Moscow to discuss some of the key issues related to nurse training and professional development, as well as the recently updated Sanitary and Epidemiological Norms and their implications for nursing practice and other matters. NEWS FROM HEALTH WORKER ORGANIZATIONS UNION This column is about the work of Russia’s largest professional association of nurses. Established in 2015, the Union of Health Worker Organizations brings together 170,000 healthcare practitioners from 35 professional associations across Russia. Together to End Stroke An audience of nurses attending the symposium «Together to End Stroke» held in late October in Yekaterinburg discussed current approaches to preventing this dangerous disease, guidelines for patient rehabilitation, and the training of neuroscience nurses. Festival of Ethnic Cultures Held in Tobolsk The Soldatov Medical College in Tobolsk trains students of 31 different ethnicities, helping future nurses embrace a diversity of cultural traditions. On 9 November 2022, the college hosted its annual cultural festival «We Are Together.» Quality and Safety of ICU Care Chuvashia hosted a conference to discuss quality and safety of care provided in anaesthesiology and intensive care units. First Congress of Dagestani Association of Nurses On October 7, Makhachkala, the capital of the Republic of Dagestan, hosted the First Congress of the Republic’s Association of Nurses. The event included a conference focusing on outpatient monitoring of patients with various conditions and on methodological and practical aspects of routine screening programs. School of Advanced Nursing: «Nurses Leading Care Innovations» In late October, Samara hosted the Third All-Russian School of Advanced Nursing – the country’s largest training event for nurses. CONTINUING TRAINING Antibiotics and Human Bodies: Friends or Foes? Since antimicrobial resistance is a complex problem, a good solution should address its various aspects – this was the conclusion of a webinar held by Rospotrebnadzor’s Central Research Institute of Epidemiology in the run-up to the World Antibiotics Awareness Week held annually in the second half of November. Corporate University Established at Hospital to Train Healthcare Professionals A severe shortage of nurses in the labour market today makes staffing healthcare facilities a challenge. The Regional Paediatric Hospital in Yekaterinburg opened its own corporate university to train healthcare professionals on site.
