ПРЕДИСЛОВИЕ
Учебное пособие является частью учебного комплекса по английскому
языку для бакалавров сельскохозяйственного вуза, обучающихся
по направлению «Агрономия». В данное учебное пособие
включены материалы, связанные с современными средствами
возделывания, выращивания и обработки сельскохозяйственных
культур. Система упражнений предоставляет возможность совершенствовать
навыки чтения, перевода, письменной и устной коммуникации,
а также расширить общепрактический и терминологический
словарный запас.
Использование учебного пособия позволит заложить методически
и содержательно единый подход к изучению специального
английского языка, сформировать лексические и грамматические
основы, а также базовые умения работы со специальным текстом
как источником профессионально ориентированной информации.
При написании учебного пособия авторы руководствовались
принципом коммуникативной направленности и положениями современной
методики и психологии о взаимосвязанном и одновременном
формировании рецептивных и продуктивныхумений и
навыков с учетом профессиональных потребностей будущих специалистов.
Главной целью учебного пособия является формирование
у студентов основных умений использования английского
языка в качестве средства информационной деятельности и профессионального
общения.
Предусматривается развитие у студентов навыков и умений
чтения, аудирования и говорения на английском языке на материале
лексики и грамматических структур, типичных для профессионально-ориентированного
текстового материала.
Использование данного пособия способствует формированию
готовности к анализу и критическому осмыслению отечественной
и зарубежной научно-технической информации в области агрономии.

Agriculture
The word “ager” is a Latin word. It means a field. The word “agriculture”
means the cultivation of fields and growing crops. Now it is
also means the use of land to breed animals.
The main branches of agriculture are crop growing or crop production
and animal breeding or animal husbandry.
Two ways of growing enough food are the increase in area of arable
land and the intensification of agricultural production in the area
already used for cropping.
The intensification of production in the traditional agricultural area
is based on the knowledge of climate, soils and their use, and on a large
collection of high-yielding varieties and hybrids of agricultural crops.
All these factors must be used in such way as to disturb the biological
equilibrium of the soil.
Agriculture is served by qualified agronomists, livestock experts,
economists, engineers, etc. A modern farm is a large – scale mechanized
and economically developed enterprise. Farming is done according
to the laws of agronomical science.

World Crop Production
Looking at crop production over the entire world, we see that
growing crops, producers focus on different reasons. For example, in
Canada they focus on the crops that give Canadians access to domestic
and international markets. Some other countries are much more focused
on their day-to-day needs and abilities.
